Food and Basics Support

Nourishing Lives: Food and Basic Support at Sally’s Children’s Trust
At Sally’s Children’s Trust in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, we know that a child cannot learn, grow, or thrive on an empty stomach. Before we can educate a child, we must first meet their most fundamental human needs.
Our Food and Basic Support Program provides a critical safety net for orphaned and vulnerable children, ensuring they have the nutrition, shelter, and daily essentials required for a healthy childhood.

Our Core Support Activities

We work directly within the Bulawayo community to provide consistent, reliable relief to children who have lost their parents or primary caregivers:
    • Daily Nutritional Feeding Programs
We provide hot, balanced meals packed with essential vitamins to combat malnutrition and give children the energy they need to grow and focus.
    • Monthly Family Food Hampers
For children living with elderly grandparents or child-headed households, we distribute monthly packs containing staples like maize meal, cooking oil, beans, and sugar.
    • Clothing and Footwear Distribution
We collect and distribute clean, durable clothing and sturdy shoes to protect children from the elements and restore their sense of dignity.
    • Hygiene and Sanitation Packs
To promote health and prevent disease, we provide regular supply kits containing soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent, and essential menstrual hygiene products for teenage girls.
    • Safe Shelter and Living Assessments
Our community team conducts regular home visits to ensure children are living in safe conditions, providing blankets and basic bedding to vulnerable households during the cold winter months.
